It was already past lunch time and my family and I had just been vaccinated with the first doze of the COVID-19 vaccine. We were already feeling very hungry and it just so happened that we passed by this place.
This could possibly be one of the oldest carenderias in Katipunan Street, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City. They serve various types of food from vegetables, grill, seafoods and soup.
One of the best "lutong bahay", one might say. The carenderia is infamously known for their Linatang Baka or beef stew. They are also well known for their Balbacua. In our opinion both of these signature dishes are one of the best we have tasted. Both dishes are very savory and delicious.
We ordered kinilaw or raw fish, linatang baka, balbacua and ampalaya. These were served with mais or rice corn. We had a very pleasant lunch and we left the carenderia feeling very full and happy because of the flavorful food we had just eaten.
